Frequently Asked Questions

Below is the FAQ list. It will continue to grow as more feedback comes in.

- Why can't I email until I decode my note?

This is a built-in safety feature. This way someone can't email your note to themselves and then hack it on their own machine. Basically if the user can't decode it, they can't do anything with the note either.

- I forgot my PIN.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR PIN.
If enough users request the feature of a PIN hint it may be included in a future release. But this is somewhat of a security risk and will probably be included as a silent feature.

- What is the default PIN?

As mentioned in the user guide, the default PIN is 5678. If you created any notes before changing the PIN or want to remove the "Welcome Message" note, the PIN will be 5678.

- Why can't I decode directly on the device?

With version 1.2 release in early February you can if you can receive HTML formatted email on the device. A link is included in the email that when pressed launches PrivateNotes with the encoded note already preloaded, ready for decoding.
